POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves providing maintenance and engineering assistance to the Picture and Sound operations. A Systems Engineer at Company 3 is tasked with designing, constructing, monitoring, and maintaining various systems to enhance the uptime and performance of infrastructure equipment. This position aims to increase insight into systems and services while improving the overall productivity of workflows throughout the facility. The Systems Engineer collaborates with personnel from all departments, including Operations, Facilities, and Production IT, to address technology challenges that affect specific productions and the overall efficiency of Company 3.

MAIN DUTIES:

The responsibilities of this Systems Engineer position primarily focus on engineering support for Picture Post-production, but they extend across all departments.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing maintenance and engineering support to Picture and Sound operations.
  • Setting up and configuring new systems.
  • Advocating for technical solutions within the operations department.
  • Offering technical expertise and support to minimize downtime.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting production workflows while adhering to Company 3 security standards.
  • Training production staff on new equipment and systems.
  • Maintaining engineering documentation.
  • Staying updated with technology and industry trends.
  • Being available for moderate shift work, on-call duties, and some weekend work during peak production periods.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the VP of Engineering & Technology.

SECURITY:

  • Assisting in ensuring compliance with established security procedures in Engineering and within the operations and workflows of each department.
  • Aiding in the implementation, updating, improvement, and monitoring of Company 3 security policies and procedures.

GENERAL QUALITY OF SERVICE:

  • Ensuring excellent customer service by recognizing and addressing the needs of operations and clients.
  • Communicating any technical concerns effectively and promptly.
  • Demonstrating an understanding and appreciation of the mission and values of Company 3.

WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will possess experience with SDI and digital media over network video, along with knowledge of network and operating systems, routing systems, and control systems within a post-production or broadcast environment. They will have advanced proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Mac OS, and an understanding of their interaction with Apple and PC hardware. Experience with post-production software such as DaVinci Resolve, Colorfront Trankskoder, Express Dailies / On Set Dailies, Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut, and Avid ProTools is essential. Additional desired skills include:

  • Technical understanding of various film and television specifications and standards.
  • Ability to evaluate, learn, and implement new software and hardware.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, capable of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of standard and high dynamic range video content, including current adopted standards.
  • Experience with professional broadcast streaming technologies and live network video streaming products.
  • Experience in sound engineering support is a plus.
