Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

We are excited to present a pivotal role within our Global Cyber Security division.

As a Senior Data Science Leader, you will spearhead the creation and implementation of sophisticated machine learning models aimed at proactively detecting and addressing emerging digital and cyber threats. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential in transforming intricate technical insights into actionable strategies, thereby driving substantial business outcomes and protecting the interests of RBC clients and their data.

Data Science empowers us to discern patterns, foresee malicious activities, conduct pattern recognition, unveil new threats, and predict future events. As part of the Joint Security Operations Center (JSOC), you will focus on leveraging extensive data sets to uncover insights that traditional analytics may overlook. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, you will apply machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to enhance RBC's defenses against digital information breaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and develop solutions utilizing advanced machine learning techniques in the areas of fraud detection, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
  • Design and execute comprehensive data pipelines, encompassing data preprocessing, model development, and production-level coding.
  • Lead intricate data science initiatives from conception through to execution.
  • Rapidly assimilate new methodologies, big data tools, and technologies emerging from research communities to integrate and adapt within our data products and models.
  • Proactively collaborate with various business and operational units to devise innovative solutions that enhance processes and implement production-scale solutions.
  • Engage in challenging, research-driven projects employing advanced machine learning methods with a focus on delivering tangible results.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists.

Qualifications for Success
Essential Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) with a robust theoretical foundation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and deploying complex machine learning models, including deep learning frameworks, to address challenging issues.
  • Strong programming capabilities (Python, PySpark) and a profound understanding of statistical modeling, data mining techniques, and big data technologies.
  • Proven ability to translate intricate technical concepts into actionable insights and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A genuine passion for innovation and a curiosity to explore emerging technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or fraud domains.
  • Familiarity with MLOps for constructing end-to-end pipelines and deploying models in a production environment.
  • Experience with graph analytics.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
