Opportunity Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a pivotal role within the rural healthcare team, engaging in the provision of holistic and comprehensive medical care tailored to the needs of individuals, families, and communities. The patient demographic encompasses a range of scenarios, including emergency interventions, pre and post-operative care, pediatric services, geriatric support, palliative care, as well as labor, delivery, and postpartum assistance. The CNS takes the lead in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, with the goal of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, and supporting patients through complex health challenges.

Role Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include delivering a broad spectrum of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, while prioritizing their safety and well-being. In this capacity, you will employ nursing processes that involve critical thinking, problem-solving, and informed decision-making. Additionally, you will provide education, counseling, and advocacy for patients and their families. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.

Required Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

- Current PALS certification.
- Current ENPC & TNCC certifications (within the last 4 years).
- ACCN certification.
- Recent experience in rural nursing.
- Experience in a day surgery unit and familiarity with post-procedural sedation and anesthesia.
