About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Construction and Energy team at AXA XL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and structuring tailor-made solutions for our clients, while also working closely with our risk engineers and actuaries to ensure accurate risk assessments and pricing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to win new business and retain existing clients
  • Review and analyze submissions, terms and conditions, and loss history to determine the degree of risk for each account
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including actuarial, claims, and reinsurance teams, to support our businesses
  • Determine quote or declination of risk, and calculate rates and premium charges using approved rating models
  • Develop and modify policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority
  • Actively cross-sell afforded products and services
  • Support service standards in delivery of Construction and Energy products and services
  • Market to producers to secure new and renewal business and initiate opportunities for cross-selling within your unit and across all lines of business in Canada
  • Develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies of less experienced colleagues
  • Work effectively with other members of your team
  • Leadership and involvement in special projects as assigned by management
Requirements
  • Extensive Construction Property (Builders Risk) and Operational Energy (Renewables, Power etc.) Property Underwriting Experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual (English/French) Skills are an asset
  • Knowledge of Primary Casualty including Wrap-Ups and Excess and Umbrella liability is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree required with advanced education and/or professional designations including but not limited to FCIP, CRIS preferred but not required
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25% travel as necessary) within Canada and the USA
