Responsibilities

Retention and New Associate Experience
  • Oversee and implement the District's onboarding program for new associates.
  • Mentor and guide onboarding Ambassadors across the district.
  • Provide training and support to managers to ensure new associates receive the necessary assistance during their onboarding.
  • Analyze trends and areas for enhancement based on feedback from onboarding programs, exit interviews, and associate surveys.
  • Collaborate with the Area Human Resources Manager and District Manager to identify and propose solutions for local retention challenges.
Talent Management
  • Facilitate the development of the District team by coaching leaders in effective people management and associate development processes.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in creating and executing impactful development plans for their associates.
  • Track the progress of development plans and escalate issues to the District Manager when necessary.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for district-level succession planning and quarterly talent review meetings.
  • Implement the Area training plan by partnering with location leaders to ensure associates complete required functional training, deliver onboarding training for new supervisors/managers, and provide just-in-time training during performance reviews and merit processes.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
  • Work with all departments to assess and recommend appropriate staffing levels based on growth trends and workforce planning tools.
  • Provide staffing assistance to leadership by collaborating on recruitment initiatives, including partnerships with local technical schools and universities.
  • Establish a connection between field recruiters and the District Manager to strategize and prioritize recruitment efforts.
Associate and Labor Relations
  • Build proactive relationships at locations to foster a positive culture and engaging work environment.
  • Develop and maintain a workplace that reflects our Employee Value Proposition by advising associates and management on HR policies, programs, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Participate in investigations of associate concerns, prepare summaries, and collaborate with the Area HR Manager on recommendations.
  • Assist Area HR Managers in partnering with Labor Relations, conducting location risk assessments, and promoting Positive Associate Relations training goals.
HR Expertise & Compliance
  • Stay informed about employment laws relevant to locations.
  • Communicate effectively and follow up to ensure legal compliance through regular analysis and adherence to Penske policies.
  • Focus on compensation equity and compliance with the Associate Handbook acknowledgment.
  • Ensure all company and legally mandated training requirements are fulfilled, including Harassment Prevention, Reasonable Suspicion, and Workplace Violence training.
  • Address compensation issues by collaborating with the Area HR Manager and centralized compensation teams.
  • Partner with specialized corporate resources for issues such as diversity & inclusion, leave of absence, accommodations, benefits, unemployment, workers' compensation, and safety.
Acquisitions & New Business Opportunities:
  • Lead the integration and execution necessary to successfully incorporate new associates into our organizational culture.
  • Provide ongoing support for the integration process through consistent onsite meetings, onboarding, staffing, and training.
