About the Role
As a Mechanical Designer at L3Harris Technologies, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex opto-mechanical and electromechanical products from concept through to production. You will work on advanced projects, applying your knowledge of mechanical dynamics, vibration, and strength of materials to develop innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze complex mechanical systems using modern tools and techniques.
- Develop and implement design solutions that meet customer requirements and company standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Contribute to the development of departmental best practices and design approaches.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
Required Capabilities
- Intermediate user of FEA for static and dynamics analysis, preferably ANSYS.
- Intermediate user of a CFD analysis package, preferably ANSYS.
- Intermediate knowledge of a 3D CAD system, preferably SolidWorks.
- Experience with Matlab or an equivalent mathematical application.
- Knowledge of mechanical dynamics and vibration.
- Knowledge of strength of materials and classical analysis methods.
- Knowledge of opto-mechanical design principles.
- Knowledge of machining, casting, sheet metal, and composites manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques and methods.
- Knowledge of Materials Science.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and specifications.
Desired Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience, or
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
