Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Perioperative Health Care Assistant to support the Operating Rooms' team. This position involves collaborating with nursing and technical staff in a dynamic Operating Room environment to enhance patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a vital member of a cohesive team, assisting nursing and technical personnel in a busy Operating Room setting.
  • Prepare patients for surgical interventions, aiding in their positioning and ensuring safe mobilization and transfer using established techniques.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Assist in the efficient turnover of operating rooms between surgeries.
  • Transport and escort patients to and from designated areas using stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and supply areas, ensuring readiness for operations.
  • Distribute necessary materials, equipment, and linens related to surgical operations.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of Grade 10 along with a recognized Health Care Assistant Program.
  • Successful completion of an Acute Care Skills Program or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with others.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties required for this position.

The work schedule, including days off and specific work areas, may vary based on operational needs and relevant agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
