Compensation

The compensation for this role is CAD $29.83 per hour.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Perioperative Health Care Assistant to contribute to the Operating Rooms' team at Vancouver Coastal Health. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with nursing and technical personnel in a busy Operating Room/OR Suite to deliver exceptional patient support.
  • Assist in the preparation of patients for surgical interventions, including aiding in patient positioning and mobility, while adhering to safe lifting techniques.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies for the operating rooms.
  • Facilitate the transition between surgical procedures by assisting with the changeover of the operating room(s).
  • Transport and escort patients to and from designated areas using stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and supply areas, ensuring readiness for surgical procedures.
  • Distribute materials, equipment, and linens pertinent to the operating rooms as needed.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 10 and graduation from an accredited Health Care Assistant Program.
  • Successful completion of an Acute Care Skills Program or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with colleagues and patients.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties required by the position.
Additional Information

The work schedule, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
