Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic Job Description

Emil Anderson Equipment is seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its team in West Kelowna, BC. As an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will play a vital role in the repair and maintenance of construction equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, and dump trucks.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in inspecting mechanical equipment to identify damage, defects, or wear, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.
  • Support in performing service repairs and preventative maintenance on construction equipment, utilizing your technical skills and knowledge to ensure optimal performance.
  • Help in replacing worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Operate transportation equipment to demonstrate function or malfunction, providing accurate and detailed reports.
  • Assist in completing necessary documentation and maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as required under the supervision of a Journeyman Mechanic, demonstrating your ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
  • Comfortable working with and around machinery, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with fellow employees and supervisors, ensuring seamless collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a team-focused environment with a positive attitude, demonstrating your ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Natural problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Must have a valid BC driver's license with air endorsement and a clean abstract, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Previous experience or training in heavy equipment mechanics is considered an asset, but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in the trade, with a strong commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Basic computer skills for using equipment tracking systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Salary: $28-$36/hr

The wage range for this position will be discussed during the interview stage, taking into consideration candidate qualifications and experience.
