As a Project Manager at Cheme, you will utilize your leadership and management expertise to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within specifications, and on budget for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience and familiarity with capital projects in the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or science and technology sectors.
Cheme Project Managers are influential leaders who will guide a multi-disciplinary team across various projects while providing coaching and mentorship to junior staff members.
The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Overseeing assigned team members
- Defining project scope and estimating engineering fees
- Drafting proposals
- Serving as the primary liaison with clients
- Maintaining budgets and schedules
- Estimating costs and managing equipment installation
- Leading project execution, coordinating contractors and vendors, and reporting progress to clients
- Supervising equipment selection, sizing calculations, and P&ID development in accordance with client specifications
- Preparing construction specifications, user requirements, functional specifications, and scope documentation
- Developing and reviewing commissioning and validation protocols
- Participating in factory acceptance testing and coordinating on-site commissioning and validation activities
- Traveling to client locations for site assessments and troubleshooting
- Bachelor of Applied Science degree in engineering from a recognized Canadian university OR
- Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science from a recognized Canadian university
- Project Management Professional designation is an asset but not mandatory
- Five years of relevant experience in project management and process development or technology transfer
- Experience managing capital projects ranging from $5,000 to $20,000,000
- Proficient in managing projects, systems, personnel, client relationships, finances, and business interactions
- Experience supervising team members
- Ability to train and develop junior staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with clients
- Skilled in handling client interactions with professionalism and courtesy
- Familiarity with standard business practices and techniques such as quoting, requirements preparation, marketing, and sales
- Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite for document preparation and server navigation
- Capable of using Microsoft Project for scheduling and resource tracking
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ownership of a vehicle
