Position Overview: SRE Technical Product Owner

In the role of SRE Product Owner, you will be instrumental in shaping the foundation of our Channel Service Platform, focusing on the infrastructure and automation of our Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings. Your responsibilities will include defining and prioritizing the backlog for the SRE Team by gathering requirements from various stakeholders, documenting them effectively, and collaborating with the SRE Team to ensure timely delivery. This position serves as a pivotal step towards a career path in SRE or Cloud Architecture.

You will work closely with business units, Enterprise Architecture, and Development/SRE teams to establish a strategic roadmap for implementation and automation. Your role will be to maintain a clear vision for the platform while understanding its Return on Investment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SRE stakeholders to develop an infrastructure automation strategy and a comprehensive roadmap that aligns with the platform's objectives.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for designated areas of the platform.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and communications regarding infrastructure matters.
  • Gather, analyze, and document stakeholder requirements and user stories for production planning.
  • Ensure the SRE Team has a consistent flow of prioritized tasks.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize features and stories with external dependencies.
  • Oversee backlog management , iteration planning, and user story decomposition, creating short, medium, and long-term product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with the SRE Scrum Master and Release Train Engineer to facilitate effective release and sprint planning sessions.
  • Develop a robust communication and training strategy for released features.

We seek a candidate with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a strong client focus, and the ability to lead in a technical environment. You should be passionate about automating platforms that serve millions of users and possess a structured, results-oriented mindset. A commitment to team ownership and collaboration is essential, as is a drive for continuous improvement in platform quality and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years of experience as an Agile Product Owner or in a similar role within a technology or software development environment.
  • Proven expertise in Project Management fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, backlog management techniques, and relevant metrics.
  • Experience in Development design reviews and governance patterns.
  • Background in SRE/ITIL/DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of IaaS and PaaS, along with CI/CD concepts.
  • Strong security awareness.
  • Knowledge of key SRE or ITIL terms such as SLA, SLO, SLI, and error budgets (preferred).
  • Solid grasp of high availability principles, system observability, and incident management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and meeting coordination capabilities.
  • Analytical and synthesizing skills.
  • Ability to create clear and concise documentation.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing tasks amidst competing demands.
  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries on a global scale.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with tools like Jira for managing Epics and stories.
  • Understanding of software and infrastructure architecture with prior hands-on experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) are advantageous.
