POSITION OVERVIEW

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will deliver compassionate care and support to individuals facing significant challenges related to poly-substance use and complex health conditions. Your role will encompass both independent and collaborative efforts to assist clients exploring pharmaceutical alternatives to harmful substances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver comprehensive care, assessment, and advocacy for clients dealing with substance use, mental health, and general wellness.
  • Implement harm reduction strategies through education, distribution of essential supplies, and overdose prevention initiatives.
  • Engage with clients and the multidisciplinary team to formulate and uphold personalized care plans.
  • Facilitate education and provide referrals tailored to the unique needs of each participant.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments, and administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure integrated support for program participants.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and community engagement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and a designation from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, particularly with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Experience in supervised consumption or overdose prevention services is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment options.
  • Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Understanding of public health and equity-focused models of care.
  • Dedication to harm reduction principles.
  • Awareness of systemic barriers affecting health and well-being.
  • Expertise in primary care, harm reduction, and health promotion.
  • Commitment to providing person-centered healthcare services.

  • Ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with clients.
  • Skill in observing and identifying subtle changes in client conditions.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Compensation: Aligned with BCNU pay grid, RN Level 3 and LPN Level 1.
