About the RoleThe Director of Technology and Information Services will be responsible for developing and implementing a cost-effective and reliable technology infrastructure that supports the complex and evolving needs of our district. This includes providing leadership and vision for developing district technology and information services, defining and delivering a TIS infrastructure and architecture, and supervising and supporting the work of all Technology and Information Services staff.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a strategic Information Technology Plan for all users of the District
- Establish the direction for technology in the District
- Manage the Information Technology and Information Services budget and expenditures
- Negotiate with software and hardware vendors on pricing and terms and conditions for major acquisitions and renewals of software and hardware contracts
- Research and implement leading edge educational software and technologies to support student needs
- Manage the primary contractors delivering new systems, such as technical support at the Secondary and Tertiary levels, new Telecommunications and integrated systems, structured wiring and other contracted services
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant post-secondary education, or equivalent of education and work experience. Considerable experience and success with integrating new technologies and methodologies into a large organization is also required.
