Job Title: Dispatcher

Join our team as a Dispatcher at OPENLANE Canada, the country's largest wholesale vehicle auction and remarketing services company. As a Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in the Transportation department, coordinating long haul, rail, and local trips, and ensuring the smooth transition of pickup and delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate transportation operations, including scheduling, routing, and tracking of vehicles.
  • Manually or electronically enter data into our transportation and inventory management systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Quote transportation services, process transactions, and post charges according to contracts and company specifications.
  • Investigate discrepancies and communicate with appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Assist with scheduling for transport drivers, ensuring adequate staffing in connection with the volume of driveaway services.
  • Act as a point of contact for transportation services, providing prompt, efficient, and courteous attention to customers.
  • Pro-actively promote transportation services in collaboration with our Sales & Dealer Relations teams.
  • May assist with onboarding, training, and supporting transportation employees with job-related tasks.
  • Ensure all company vehicles are in safe operating condition by scheduling regular maintenance and completing weekly van inspections in accordance with our safety program.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of direct dispatching experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation, as the work location is not on any bus routes.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  • High proficiency in computer software, including Google office and Microsoft office.
  • Experience using transport software considered an asset.
