Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary
LifeLabs is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Burnaby, British Columbia. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing, performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing to provide accurate and timely results.
- Performing and interpreting test results, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of patient information and adhering to strict standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
- Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology to improve laboratory processes and efficiency.
- Participating in problem-solving and workflow optimization to improve laboratory operations.
Requirements
- College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Excellent communication skills to enable effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of laboratory information systems.
- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
