About This Opportunity
Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. As part of this project, we are seeking a Draftsperson to join our team.
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Draftsperson to join our team on the SMR-X Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, 3D models for application in Machine Control applications, and providing drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, 3D models for application in Machine Control applications.
- Report on and participate in continuous improvement of key metrics.
- Prepare drafting plans.
- Provide drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection.
- Provide clear communication with client in a professional manner.
- Liaises with design partners, trades supervision and project team members.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Problem-solve as-built conditions and contribute to solutions with the project team.
Requirements
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or another accredited post-secondary institution) OR Post-secondary education in design field, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Architectural program.
- Proficient in Autodesk Suite (Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge and experience with piping systems, structural systems, and fabrication drafting.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Drafting/Engineering Design role.
- Knowledge and experience in Pipeline/Heavy Civil construction and methodology.
- Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches in a fast pace setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically pertaining to completeness and accuracy of drawings.
- Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work in Shop/Field conditions.
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness.
