About This Opportunity

We're seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our team on the SMR-X Project. As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, 3D models for application in Machine Control applications.
  • Report on and participate in continuous improvement of key metrics.
  • Prepare drafting plans.
  • Provide drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection.
  • Provide clear communication with clients in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with design partners, trades supervision, and project team members.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Problem-solve as-built conditions and contribute to solutions with the project team.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or another accredited post-secondary institution) OR Post-secondary education in design field, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Architectural program.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Suite (Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge and experience with piping systems, structural systems, and fabrication drafting.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Drafting/Engineering Design role.
  • Knowledge and experience in Pipeline/Heavy Civil construction and methodology.
  • Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, specifically pertaining to completeness and accuracy of drawings.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work in Shop/Field conditions.
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness.
