Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. As part of this project, we are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to join our team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, 3D models for application in Machine Control applications.
- Report on and participate in continuous improvement of key metrics.
- Prepare drafting plans.
- Provide drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection.
- Provide clear communication with clients in a professional manner.
- Liaise with design partners, trades supervision, and project team members.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Problem-solve as-built conditions and contribute to solutions with the project team.
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or another accredited post-secondary institution) OR Post-secondary education in design field, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Architectural program.
- Proficient in Autodesk Suite (Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge and experience with piping systems, structural systems, and fabrication drafting.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Drafting/Engineering Design role.
- Knowledge and experience in Pipeline/Heavy Civil construction and methodology.
- Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically pertaining to completeness and accuracy of drawings.
- Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work in Shop/Field conditions.
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness.
