As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist plays a crucial role in the specialized field of oncology practice. This position involves the comprehensive management of medication therapy tailored to the unique needs of cancer patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailor medication regimens for patients by reviewing medical records, evaluating clinical responses, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to formulate personalized therapeutic strategies.
- Engage with patients and the healthcare team to ensure optimal medication management, including the development of discharge plans for hospitalized patients and medication schedules for those receiving outpatient care.
- Prepare and dispense medications while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards to guarantee safe and effective pharmaceutical care.
- Provide comprehensive drug information to healthcare providers and patients, ensuring clarity through both verbal and written communication.
- Support the care team in securing non-BCCA benefit medications, assisting patients in navigating financial aid options and compassionate release programs.
- Mentor pharmacy students and residents, fostering their professional development through guidance and supervision.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and current registration as a Licensed Pharmacist with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
Additional Skills
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and safe handling of cytotoxic agents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role.
- Familiarity with equipment relevant to the position.
