About the Role

As a key contributor to ATB Financial's Capital Markets team, you will play a crucial role in delivering credit products and solutions to clients. Working closely with Corporate Banking Directors, you will be responsible for structuring and executing credit transactions, from origination to funding and ongoing maintenance of client relationships.

Key Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the overall financial targets of ATB Capital Markets.
  • Identify and address new business opportunities through customer interactions, escalating them to the Director, Corporate Banking as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Corporate Banking on pricing, internal memorandums, and board memos.
  • Owning the deal structure and credit for ATB Capital Markets clients, including new borrower, increases, and material amendment credit submissions.
  • Structuring, preparing, and completing term sheets, loan advisories, and applications for credit.
  • Utilizing client relationship management platforms to capture client information, call reports, and business opportunities.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all credit products, internal and external, and participating in lender meetings as necessary.
  • Client interactions to ensure flawless execution of requests and needs from start to finish.
  • Negotiating and completing loan documentation and security, including financial markets product documentation.
  • Underwriting, onboarding, and fulfilling credit-related products.
  • Leveraging internal and external partners to meet client needs.
  • Providing guidance and leadership to Capital Markets Associate Directors and peers on credit topics.
  • Maintaining relationships with third-party agents, syndicate leads, participant banks, solicitors, industry experts, and technical advisors.
  • Oversight and completion of compliance activities on the credit portfolio.
  • Portfolio health management, including minimizing risk related to loan loss provisions, client renewals, and timely reporting of deteriorating credit conditions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial or corporate banking, with a focus on senior debt and structured debt solutions.
  • Strong understanding of credit and security documentation.
  • Excellent financial and risk analysis skills, with a good understanding of accounting standards and financial modeling.
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or CBV designation is considered an asset.
