About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Employment Counsellor to join our team at the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. As an Employment Counsellor, you will play a critical role in helping our clients achieve their career goals and overcome barriers to employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the Effectiveness of Counselling Services

Assess the impact of our counselling services on client outcomes and make recommendations for improvement.

Conduct Client Interviews

Meet with clients to gather information about their employment history, educational background, and career aspirations.

Develop and Implement Counselling Programs

Design and deliver counselling programs to help clients identify their goals and develop strategies to achieve them.

Administer and Interpret Tests

Use standardized tests to assess clients' interests, aptitudes, and abilities, and provide feedback and guidance.

Collect Labour Market Information

Research and provide clients with information about job openings, entry requirements, and other occupational information.

Provide Career Guidance

Offer clients guidance and support to help them make informed decisions about their careers.

Follow Up with Clients

Regularly check in with clients to monitor their progress and provide ongoing support.

Requirements
  • Education

A college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.

Experience

At least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.

Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse client populations.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as database software.
