Job Description

Job Title: Sustainability Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Director to join our team at Finning. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an overall global sustainability strategy that addresses compliance and governance, our company's own sustainability and carbon reduction objectives, and supports the business in responding to the sustainability objectives of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement sustainability policies, plans, and procedures.
  2. Develop and implement sustainability communication plans.
  3. Monitor, analyze, and report on sustainability trends, regulations, and legislation applicable in the jurisdictions where we do business.
  4. Lead cross-functional teams in the development and execution of sustainability initiatives.
  5. Partner with legal, internal audit, and operational teams to ensure sustainability practices are integrated into corporate policies, procedures, and activities.
  6. Provide oversight to sustainability audits and assessments across global operations.
  7. Develop and maintain a sustainability reporting framework that meets global standards and stakeholder expectations.
  8. Oversee and collaborate on sustainability training and awareness programs.
  9. Act as a key spokesperson and representative of the company on sustainability issues.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field.
  2. Knowledge of ESG regulatory requirements and trends nationally and globally.
  3. Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, CDP, and SASB.
  4. Ideally 10+ years of experience in a relevant industry/business experience in a sustainability role or related field.
  5. Ability to work effectively in a complex organization and with cross-functional teams.
  6. Demonstrated business-related career progression.
  7. Strong project management skills, with proven ability to plan, organize and lead.
  8. Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present to senior leadership internally and externally.
  9. Strong attention to detail, strong financial acumen, and excellent analytical skills.
