About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cathodic Protection Technician to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our buried pipelines through the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to various locations to monitor and test cathodic protection systems, utilizing company vehicles and equipment.
  • Develop and implement plans to maintain and install cathodic protection systems, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Analyze cathodic protection measurements to identify areas of non-compliance and recommend solutions.
  • Utilize specialized equipment to assess cathodic protection monitoring and troubleshooting data, and implement solutions to rectify issues.
  • Investigate and analyze electrical interference, conducting surveys and analyzing data to determine impact on cathodic protection and safety.
  • Respond to calls from FortisBC crews, municipalities, or contractors to provide information and guidance on cathodic protection systems.
  • Input, extract, and maintain data from various systems, utilizing software applications to prepare reports and graphs.
  • Review and prepare repair procedures, monitoring completion within established timeframes.
  • Act as a representative of FortisBC, responding to customer queries and explaining work requirements.
Requirements
  • Recognized as a Certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) by the National Association of Corrosion Engineering (N.A.C.E.) and successful completion of Coating Inspection Program Level 1.
  • Four (4) years directly related experience.
  • Working knowledge of cathodic protection systems, corrosion theories, and electrical interference.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office applications and specialized equipment.
  • Valid BC Drivers License with a safe driving record.
