About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Saplings Outdoor Program. As a Forest School Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a dynamic and engaging forest program for children aged 2.5-5 years old.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive forest school program that aligns with our organization's philosophy and values.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during forest play, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
  • Prepare and maintain learning areas and materials to support children's learning and development.
  • Assume responsibility for program tools and equipment, including safety, use, and maintenance.
  • Plan and prepare seasonal activities and projects that promote children's connection with nature and foster a sense of wonder and curiosity.
  • Implement mentorship strategies that support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in forest school education.
Requirements
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree.
  • Current BC Early Childhood Certificate.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience working with children aged 2.5-5 years old.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs or neurodivergence.
  • Preferred qualifications include Forest School or Reggio Emilia experience.
