Medical Laboratory Technologist

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs a variety of analytical tests and procedures in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This role requires technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform tests in clinical and environmental laboratories. The successful candidate will work with minimal supervision in emergency and weekend/night situations, operating computer-integrated instruments and using computerized information systems. They will compare test results to established criteria and make decisions regarding reportability, exercising independent judgment. Effective communication and professionalism are essential in this role, which requires maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist and be licensed with NSCMLT or eligible. Registration with CSMLS is also required. The successful candidate will have the ability to work shiftwork, including weekends and holidays, and be willing to travel when required. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
Hours and CompensationThis is a long-assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will begin as soon as possible for approximately 8 months, with dates subject to change. The hourly rate for this position is $37.54. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
