Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health, a leading provider of healthcare services in Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity: As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will perform analytical tests and procedures using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. You will possess the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests in the clinical and environmental laboratories, working with little or no supervision in emergency and weekend/night situations.

About You: We are looking for a candidate who is a graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist, licensed with NSCMLT or eligible, and registered with CSMLS. You should have the ability to work shiftwork (weekends and holidays as required) and be willing to travel when required. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical tests and procedures using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques
  • Work with little or no supervision in emergency and weekend/night situations
  • Operate instruments that are often computer integrated and networked
  • Compare test results to pre-established criteria and make decisions regarding the reportability of results
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
