Job Title: Municipal Worker 1

Job Summary:

The City of Lloydminster is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Municipal Worker 1 to join our Building Maintenance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of function for all City-owned facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment for our citizens and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning and servicing of various locations throughout the building, including washrooms, dressing rooms, and office spaces.
  • Perform general building checks and safety checks, both internal and external, to identify and address any potential issues.
  • Ensure materials are stored in a safe and orderly manner, adhering to City standards and regulations.
  • Document and maintain accurate records and logs, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
  • Assist other staff and contractors as needed, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Report any issues or concerns with equipment, safety, facilities, vandalism, or supplies, ensuring prompt attention and resolution.
  • Maintain the exterior and interior of buildings, including sweeping, garbage removal, dusting, and assisting in event setup.
  • Assist in the moving of equipment, furniture, supplies, and other required items, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of facilities management, staying up-to-date with best practices and City policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related duties as required, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and customer service.

Work Schedule:

This position will work shifts consisting of days, nights, and evenings from Monday to Sunday, with on-call shifts as needed. The successful candidate must be capable of working alone or with a team in multiple facilities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum Grade 12 or GED equivalency is required.
  • Previous custodial and/or building maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Certified Custodial Technician basic and advanced courses are considered an asset.
  • Completion of a building maintenance course will be given preference.
  • Ability to demonstrate good problem-solving skills, think critically, and make sound decisions.
  • Capable of operating small maintenance equipment and hand tools in an efficient and responsible manner, adhering to recognized procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including smartphones, internet, email, Word, online forms, and electronic time sheets.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to deal with the public and building tenants courteously and effectively.
  • Ability to work responsibly alone under minimal supervision and work well within a team of employees.
  • Good physical condition, able to stand for long periods with bending and reaching motions, and lift up to 25 kg/40 lbs.
  • Subject to a basic security check and clearance prior to the position start date.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver's Abstract is required.
