Your Role
Reporting to the Energy Business Line Sector Leader, the Power Delivery Sector Leader is responsible for driving growth and opportunity development within North America's Power Delivery Sector. This role requires collaboration with Energy Sector Leaders, Regional Business Leaders, Business Center Operation Leaders, Business Center Practice Leaders, Account Managers, and Marketing teams to identify and cultivate project opportunities and devise effective strategies through a comprehensive understanding of the power delivery sector, client requirements, and competitive landscape.
You will assist our business centers in building and developing teams to achieve results and support projected growth. As the sector expert, you will be the primary resource on the trends affecting the North American power delivery market and associated technologies/services.
The Power Delivery Sector Leader will engage with other Stantec business lines to stay informed about the overall market position related to the Power Delivery sector and work collaboratively to formulate business plans aimed at meeting annual sales and growth objectives while enhancing our brand presence in North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing the vision, focus, and priorities for our North American power delivery teams, documented through a detailed annual business plan that outlines key clients, revenue goals, marketing strategies, budgets, and performance indicators.
- Identifying key clients with potential for significant and sustainable growth in the power delivery sector, including electric utilities and energy companies, leveraging market intelligence and insights.
- Building and nurturing relationships with key subcontractors and construction partners to ensure continued growth in the North American power delivery market.
- Recognizing market trends and necessary service offerings that will underpin sustained growth in the sector, collaborating with business centers to forecast demand for existing and new services.
- Driving revenue and sales growth while working closely with regional business centers and project teams to meet operational performance metrics.
- Engaging in business pursuits that align with the power delivery business plan, including leading proposal development and commercial discussions.
- Facilitating partnerships among business developers and functional teams.
- Participating in achieving all health, safety, security, and environmental goals as well as utilization targets.
- Collaborating with sector teams and BC leaders to support sector-wide business development initiatives.
- Maintaining up-to-date business reports and fostering a culture of timely updates on project pipelines.
- Developing and implementing sector marketing and business development plans in partnership with BC leadership.
- Overseeing the preparation and approval of proposals, rates, and contracts in accordance with Stantec policies.
- Building and maintaining industry relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and potential recruits.
- Conducting client surveys to gather feedback and develop action plans for improvement.
- Attending industry conferences and maintaining active memberships in relevant associations.
- Supporting recruitment efforts to enhance the sector team.
People Management
- Coaching and mentoring a team of professionals dedicated to expanding our Energy business and enhancing Stantec's market profile.
- Supporting annual performance reviews for relevant staff contributing to sector pursuits.
- Facilitating the development of succession plans within the sector.
Qualifications
Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven leadership skills to engage and motivate teams.
- Experience in project delivery with a diverse and geographically dispersed team.
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering services related to power projects.
- Background in business development, proposal writing, and budget management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong industry network.
- Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours as needed.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing engineering design and construction services within the Power Delivery Sector, with a strong preference for candidates with comprehensive knowledge in transmission and distribution lines, system studies, substations, HVDC or EHV, and protection and controls.
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required. A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
