Job Summary

The Parts Service Advisor will provide technical support in the procurement and supply of parts, components, materials, and consumables to facilitate equipment repairs. This role involves working with preferred vendors, tracking parts for arrival, storing parts, and ensuring the prompt return of damaged and incorrect parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Order parts, confirm orders, and monitor delivery times to ensure timely receipt of necessary components.
  • Receive and label all shop-related items, distributing them immediately upon receipt or storing them in an organized manner until the assigned job is ready for the part.
  • Track incomplete order status, including outstanding orders and backorders, and follow up as necessary to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Inspect all parts for damage, quality, and accuracy upon arrival, and return or re-order any damaged or incorrect parts.
  • Pick up parts at vendors as requested, and track and monitor vendor returns, including warranty items.
  • Research and identify alternative parts, both new and used, to meet customer needs.
  • Assist the shop with parts-related research and provide technical support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary education.
  • Prior experience in parts procurement or a related field is an asset.
  • Prior clerical or warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a heavy equipment shop environment is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to read and understand repair instructions and work orders.
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable and friendly demeanor, with a strong customer service approach.
  • Ability to work in a climate-controlled professional office and shop environment.
  • Requires long periods of sitting or standing, depending on daily workflow.
  • Requires the use of standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and scanners.
  • May require moderate standing, walking, bending, or stooping.
  • May require lifting of up to 50lbs.
