We are in search of a Bilingual Superintendent who will bring technical expertise and leadership to our project teams and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to all design specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and implement a Safety-First culture across all levels of the workforce, including employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Advocate for safety in all operational activities, participating in the development of safe work plans, conducting hazard assessments, and mentoring crew members.
  • Lead safety meetings and inspections, providing guidance to team members.
  • Monitor and report on project quality, resource needs, and stakeholder relations to the General Superintendent and/or Construction Manager.
  • Supervise job site activities, ensuring compliance with project policies and procedures by Forepersons.
  • Enhance the quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
  • Address productivity challenges by collaborating with Forepersons and monitoring work performance.
  • Ensure project plans and budgets are followed while guiding crews to meet production targets.
  • Comprehend the scope and sequencing of work, assisting Forepersons in planning and prioritizing tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Contribute to the formulation of construction plans.
  • Oversee multiple crews and subcontractors effectively.
  • Develop and refine construction methodologies, planning material and equipment needs along with work schedules for civil operations.
  • Review daily work schedules and production metrics with Field Engineers and the General Superintendent/Construction Manager, updating monthly timelines as necessary.
  • Familiarize yourself with project plans and specifications to facilitate job setup activities.
  • Preferred experience with Local/DOT/MTO/Municipal projects.
  • Strong commitment to OSHA and project-specific safety protocols.
  • Document daily field activities and provide technical insights to resolve design challenges.
  • Establish optimal crew structures for project performance.
  • Present production plans to crews.
  • Collaborate with Quality Staff to ensure proper inspections and testing for assigned work scopes.
  • Manage the ordering and coordination of equipment and materials to achieve production goals within budget and schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a supervisory role within the construction industry, specifically in civil works such as roads, bridges, and tunnels.
  • Detail-oriented and hardworking individual.
  • Required experience on construction sites.
  • Educational background should include an engineering degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and relevant experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is essential.
  • Competence in using drafting software for developing construction methodologies.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, documents, and site plans.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, automated systems, and remote tooling systems.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication within a large team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to project schedules, which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
  • Willingness to work in both field and office environments.
