Donation Team Associate

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Donation Crew Team Member to join our team at Talize. As a key member of our donation processing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our donation centers.
Responsibilities:- Customer Service: Greet every customer in a professional and enthusiastic manner, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Donation Processing: Receive donations from customers, assist with moving/unloading product when necessary, and properly record and label donations.
- Inventory Management: Stack and weigh carts/bins, input date, vendor, and cart weight into the receiving spreadsheet to monitor stock on hand inventory levels.
- Bin Management: Monitor donation bins outside and at the front of the store, transferring items to the back area to be processed.
- Communication: Explain the "Do not Accept List" to customers and inform them why we cannot take certain items.
- Promotions: Provide current promotional coupons to customers for donating.
- Audit and Compliance: Action daily OSD audit deficiencies discussed with your supervisor.
- Housekeeping: Ensure the merchandise processing area is kept in an organized and clean manner in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
- Health and Safety: Take precautionary measures and follow company guidelines against external and internal theft, maintain a safe workplace, and report hazards to management.
- Additional Duties: Roll racks onto the retail floor to replenish stock, assist in ragging out identified colour tags, and participate in floor changes and back-stock programs.
- 6 months to 1 year's experience working in retail.
- Previous work in a thrift retail environment is considered an asset.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, bailer, or garbage compactor is considered an asset.
- Concentration – ability to accurately perform repetitive work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail – double-check work to provide consistent performance.
- Communication Skills – interact effectively and professionally with team members and customers.
- Collaboration – work well independently and as part of a team.
- Sales Oriented – engage with customers while utilizing in-depth knowledge of stock on hand to help assist with shopping needs.
- Basic math – understanding and knowledge of basic mathematical operations and numbers.
- Problem solving – troubleshoot customer issues or complaints with little to no assistance from management.
- Physical strength and endurance – perform physical requirements throughout the duration of the shift.
- Organizational skills – organize received merchandise to efficiently fit in bins/cages.
- Safety conscious – possess proper form to effectively and safely conduct manual labor, follow safety guidelines when operating machinery.
- Exposure to dust – all of designated shift.
- Exposure to periodic temperature fluctuations and noise levels.
- Requirements to have open availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interaction with customers, clients, and the public at large.
