About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a highly skilled Project Lead to join our Medical Affairs and Innovation (MAI) Stem Cells team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and implementing specific projects and initiatives related to stem cells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop business cases for projects and initiatives, including identifying and estimating project benefits, scope, approach, risks, resource requirements, timelines, regulatory requirements, costs, and funding.
  • Lead project teams and manage activities within defined projects and specific work streams, as assigned by senior management.
  • Manage project team members, promote effective relationships, and ensure project success.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including Health Canada Cells, Tissues and Organs (CTO), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), and World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA).
  • Participate in internal and external audits, assist in responding to observations, document results, negotiate corrective action plans, and conduct follow-up activities to verify the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary level education, preferably a university degree in a related field. Certification in Project Management, such as PMP designation preferred.
  • A minimum of four years related experience in various project management roles.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with regulations and standards, including Health Canada Cells, Tissues and Organs (CTO), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) and World Marrow Donor Associate (WMDA) would be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience successfully interacting and building credibility with senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgement and understanding of when to seek direction.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret business needs and develop integrated, creative solutions and the ability to develop accurate and detailed reports.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site presence at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time, or two days per week. You will be based at either our Ottawa office at 40 Concourse Gate, Ottawa, Ontario, or our Edmonton office at St NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day. Travel requirements – you will be expected to travel as necessary to meet project needs and commitments.
