Gift Processing and Finance Associate

Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to reaching every Canadian affected by a brain tumour through advocacy, research, information, support and education. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Gift Processing and Finance Associate to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately record and process all donations, including cash, cheques, credit cards, and online gifts
  • Promptly acknowledge all donations, including generating and mailing thank you letters, and issue tax receipts in compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations
  • Create records for new donors and make necessary changes to existing donor records, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Answer phone calls courteously, take donations over the phone and respond to donor inquiries
  • Reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly donation batches to financial records
  • Support the finance department with accounts payable and receivable tasks, including invoice processing, payment processing, and bank deposits
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Help prepare financial documents and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including audits
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
  • Provide general administrative support to the Operations & Finance and Fund Development teams, including data entry, filing, and correspondence

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (finance, accounting, business or office administration) or combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software and donor management systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Financial Edge, NXT, Raisin)
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while demonstrating adaptability to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of CRA regulations related to charitable donations is an asset
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
