Overview

The role of a millwright in an aggregate production facility encompasses the installation, upkeep, repair, and diagnostic evaluation of stationary industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Safety:

Foster a robust safety culture by leading through example; adhere to all safety policies and procedures to align with the company's vision and critical success factors.

Technical Proficiency:

Capable of interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to establish work methodologies.

Operations:

Millwrights are tasked with the installation, alignment, disassembly, and relocation of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical apparatus, including pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators, following layout plans using hand and power tools. They are also responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, along with programmable logic controls. Assembly of machinery and equipment prior to installation is also part of their duties, utilizing hand and power tools and welding equipment.

Operator Functions:

Operate hoisting and lifting equipment such as cranes, jacks, and tractors to position machinery and components during installation, setup, and repair. Additionally, operate machine tools like drills and grinders to fabricate necessary parts during maintenance or setup of machinery.

Troubleshooting:

Conduct inspections and examinations of machinery and equipment to identify and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.

Maintenance:

Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective components. Responsible for cleaning, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance on machinery.

Additional Duties:

Undertake other responsibilities as assigned to support the efficient operation of the facility.

Collaboration:

Millwrights will collaborate with fellow millwrights, electricians, welders, and production personnel to achieve assigned tasks.

Specific Accountabilities:

Millwrights must fulfill the following obligations:

Engage in plant safety initiatives, including conducting risk assessments prior to each task. Maintain consistent attendance. Complete scheduled tasks punctually. Provide constructive feedback to Maintenance Supervisors for work enhancements.

Reporting Structure

Millwrights report directly to the maintenance supervisor and maintenance manager.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates must possess their Industrial Mechanic Millwright certification from the college of trades or their interprovincial red seal certification.

Problem-solving, Technical aptitude, Creativity, Organizational skills.
