Position Overview

Roving Leaders are instrumental in the creation and execution of initiatives that promote constructive leisure activities for youth. Through various programs such as Camp Footloose and Talented Ladies in the Community, our team strives to cultivate an enjoyable and interactive atmosphere for young participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate outreach efforts for underserved communities
  • Deliver mobile recreational services for youth
  • Design and execute daily camp activities
  • Engage young individuals in recreational pursuits
  • Instruct youth on the proper use of equipment
  • Oversee the maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Support initiatives aimed at gang intervention
  • Assist with city-wide community events
  • Accompany youth on field excursions

Qualifications

This position is part of the Pathway to Government Employment Partnership Program. Priority consideration will be given to District residents who possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification from a District institution. Candidates are required to provide relevant documentation and confirm District residency prior to employment.

Work Schedule and Compensation

The role may involve flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compensation for Roving Leaders is set at $18 per hour. This position is classified as Protection Sensitive, necessitating mandatory checks for Criminal Background, Traffic Records, and Drug and Alcohol testing.
