Job Title: Intermediate Youth Worker

Join our team at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa as an Intermediate Youth Worker, where you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of young people in our community.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead and implement programs for children and youth at our Don McGahan ClubHouse location. As an Intermediate Youth Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe and inclusive environment, providing guidance and support to participants, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to achieve program goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and implement programs for children and youth, including developing and delivering activity plans and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and support to participants, including mentoring and counseling services as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to achieve program goals, including developing and implementing strategies to engage and retain participants.
  • Conduct monthly updates on program attendance and outcomes, and provide recommendations for program improvement.
  • Attend staff meetings and training opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices and program developments.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a child and youth-related field, including direct leadership experience in program instruction capacity.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Demonstrated C&Y mentoring and counseling skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to participants.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and youth, including those with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Proven ability to engage children in programming activities, with a focus on promoting physical activity, sports, and recreation.
Required Education and Training:
  • Current police record check – vulnerable sector (required for employees that are 19 years old and over).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • High FIVE certificate (an asset).
