About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join BMO as a Mortgage Business Development Specialist. As a key member of our Retail Banking Sales and Service team, you will play a critical role in cultivating and building relationships with a third-party network of referral sources to drive new mortgage business and increase BMO's share of the home financing market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and Pursue Sales Opportunities: Actively search for sales opportunities to achieve individual sales and profitability goals, and proactively contact realtors and referral sources to discuss client and realtor needs.
  • Develop and Execute Marketing Programs: Assist with the implementation of targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other initiatives to drive business results and expand the network.
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Serve as a customer advocate during application and processing activities, and deliver exceptional customer service that builds trust through expertise, responsive service, and support.
  • Collaborate with Branch Teams: Partner with branch teams to properly hand off customers to finalize mortgage documentation, and resolve or escalate issues to meet customer expectations.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Industry Developments: Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations, and gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Comply with Regulatory Requirements: Verify mortgage approvals for compliance with regulatory requirements and operational and credit policies, and adhere to all aspects of BMO's code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Requirements
  • Experience and Education: Typically between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of portfolio management and related credit qualification standards, policies, and procedures, as well as strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience, including verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and influence skills.
