Mechanical Product Specialist

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Product Engineer or Technologist to join our Dewatering Group. This role will report directly to the Engineering Manager and the Dewatering Product Manager, focusing on supporting our Screw Press, Disc Filter, and Twin Wire Press Service product lines. Collaboration with the product team, customers, and vendors is essential to ensure the successful execution of rebuilds, upgrades, field service, and spare parts management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of rebuild projects.
  • Carry out designated project tasks as agreed upon.
  • Develop repair scopes and provide quotations.
  • Implement established repair protocols.
  • Offer manufacturing support as required.
  • Travel to vendor and customer locations as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Regional and Global Product Group teams to design and strategize new product developments.
  • Maintain and update process and maintenance records.
  • Oversee the installed equipment base.
  • Enhance personal skills across various aspects of the Product Lines, including assembly, engineering, purchasing, and sales.
  • Analyze product data and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Visit customer mill sites to provide product expertise and sales support as needed.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in welding and machining of stainless steel.
  • Essential mechanical competencies.
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in manufacturing, fabrication drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% across Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in mechanical engineering; relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • Strong technical documentation abilities.
  • Capability to organize, coordinate, and lead projects effectively.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex data sets and resolve issues.
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal-oriented while being able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for presenting, simplifying, and explaining variances and issues to a team, along with proposing solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Strong time management skills.
