Job Overview
The Loss Prevention Investigator is tasked with executing thorough investigations concerning internal integrity challenges, claims, information privacy, inventory loss, organized retail crime, or significant financial misconduct. This role ensures adherence to security protocols and regulations while conducting investigations in a professional, legal, ethical, and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguard all company assets and minimize losses.
  • Investigate unlawful activities involving employees or customers at company locations.
  • Advise on security systems, including electronic detection and access control devices.
  • Gather information for civil and criminal litigation or other relevant purposes.
  • Plan and lead effective investigations utilizing team resources and equipment safely and ethically, in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate investigation records, ensuring all documentation meets company standards and policies.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding any matters related to the company or loss prevention.
  • Engage in the development and execution of Loss Prevention audits to identify internal losses, Organized Retail Crime activities, and policy violations.
  • Travel to various company locations or industry events as necessary.
  • Monitor and report incidents that may negatively impact employee morale.
  • Participate in training sessions on court attendance and legal proceedings; provide testimony as required by the Courts.
  • Promptly report any breaches of policy, procedural errors, or performance issues to Loss Prevention management.
  • Achieve company, team, and individual performance goals and expectations for all assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of experience in loss prevention or a related security field, or relevant retail experience.
  • Preferred experience (one year) in leading and executing complex internal investigations in line with company and industry standards.
  • Relevant educational background in criminology, emergency management, justice or security management, or auditing.
  • Completion of Advanced Interviewing skills training (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski, PEACE), with at least two years of experience in conducting structured interviews.
  • Familiarity with intrusion systems, fire alarm systems, video surveillance, access control, asset tracking, and perimeter security.
  • Advanced understanding of field interviews and case development across various domains.
  • Minimum of one year of advanced knowledge in investigative techniques, interviewing strategies, and evidence rules as they relate to criminal and civil investigations.
  • Ability to obtain a Novice or Full Class 5 Driver License in British Columbia and have access to a vehicle within six weeks of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain a BC Security License, which includes criminal record, police information, and correctional service record checks.
  • Fluency in English for listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
