Meridia Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Director of Legal Operations to lead our practice support teams in either Toronto or Montreal. As a key member of our national team, you will work closely with lawyers and professionals across Canada to deliver exceptional support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and manage a high-performing management team to achieve national and local goals.
- Oversee recruitment processes and ensure top-quality staffing of practice support teams within approved headcount budgets.
- Implement and execute firm policies and process reviews, including those related to compensation, employment, performance management, and staff development.
- Manage risk associated with employee relations situations and advise senior directors on disciplinary or termination procedures.
- Develop and educate the firm on the legal support services model.
- Collaborate with senior managers to ensure robust candidate pools for practice support team roles.
- Prioritize projects and provision resources based on firm goals.
- Monitor feedback from lawyers and paraprofessionals and develop recommendations for change and improvement.
- Collaborate with national practice group leaders and regional managing partners to confirm support for partners and associates.
- Ensure execution of legal support efficiency projects and secure corporate commitment.
- Oversee the contribution of continuous improvement committees and facilitate communication across stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as business administration or human resources.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in administration, including a minimum of five years in a supervisory or management position.
- Experience in professional services, preferably in the legal industry.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational change management and team building.
- Proven problem-solving skills, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking.
- Bilingualism in French and English is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and a professional attitude in difficult situations.
The ideal candidate will be part of a national team, working with lawyers and professionals across Canada. Bilingualism is a preferred skill for this position, as you will work with clients, lawyers, and professionals who communicate in English or French.
