Your Contribution

We are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee operations in our laboratory.

  • Leading a team of technicians in daily laboratory and field operations to deliver geotechnical services;
  • Conducting and supervising laboratory tests, including compressive strength testing of concrete, soil gradation, plasticity tests, soil density testing, and more, ensuring compliance with CCIL standards;
  • Monitoring and performing field tests to adhere to protocols for compaction testing and concrete testing according to industry standards;
  • Facilitating effective communication between clients, the Laboratory Supervisor, and field and lab technicians;
  • Assisting in scheduling tasks and monitoring the utilization of resources to meet turnaround times;
  • Maintaining financial records, including invoices and accounts for laboratory services;
  • Ensuring accurate sample logs for various materials in compliance with CCIL;
  • Regularly inspecting the work area and equipment to maintain safe working conditions;
  • Documenting test results and preparing reports for data interpretation;
  • Overseeing the quality of work performed by technicians, including data verification;
  • Maintaining a database of calibration certificates and equipment manuals;
  • Participating in laboratory accreditation programs;
  • Training new technicians and technologists;
  • Identifying and recommending solutions for unsafe conditions;
  • Conducting fieldwork as necessary;
  • Supporting business development and preparing quotations for materials testing.

Your Profile

  • Completion of a recognized 3-year Technician or Technologist program;
  • Possession of a CET license or eligibility to obtain one;
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in laboratory and field testing;
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance;
  • Valid CCIL/CSA Certifications;
  • Strong knowledge of ASTM, CCIL, MTO, AASHTO, CNSC standards related to testing;
  • Understanding of civil engineering and health and safety regulations;
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Able to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively;
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Physically fit for field and laboratory testing;
  • Commitment to health and safety policies.
