- Write clear specifications for new software features and enhancements, ensuring they meet the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders.
- Design and optimize algorithms and numerical methods in the simulator to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop production-quality code in several programming languages, including C/C++, Python, and SKILL.
- Perform detailed testing of new and enhanced features, and create documentation content to support our customers.
- Develop photonic device models and circuit examples to demonstrate simulation capabilities and showcase our technology.
- Integrate simulation with design environment and layout for a complete end-to-end solution, ensuring seamless collaboration between teams.
- Engage with select customers and ecosystem partners to understand and address their needs, providing exceptional support and guidance.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing integrated photonic devices and/or circuits, through full design cycles, from simulation and layout to tape-out and to experimental characterization.
- Experience in photonic device modeling, using Verilog-A or other methods, to describe the behavior of waveguides, couplers, modulators, photodetectors, lasers, etc. for circuit simulation.
- Experience in photonic circuit simulation, and ideally electronic-photonic co-simulation, using Cadence Spectre, Lumerical INTERCONNECT, or similar tools.
- Experience in photonic device simulation using physical solvers, including optical / EM (e.g., FDTD), electrical / semiconductor (TCAD), and thermal.
- Knowledge of numerical simulation methods is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic/photonic design automation tools and workflows (familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso platform is a plus).
- Programming skills in C/C++, Python, and SKILL.
- Experience working with multiple foundries and using or developing photonic PDKs is a plus.
- Good communications skills and ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
