Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our Research and Development team at Photonic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimizing operational systems, reducing product lifecycle costs, and improving overall system performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct standards analysis, including Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analysis, Sparing analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Procedures, and Troubleshooting Procedures.
  • Consult with engineering to implement improved operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Interface with multiple teams within our R&D department to foster strong relationships and act as a key connection point.
  • Assess product designs and recommend design modifications to eliminate or reduce operator errors or system malfunctions.
  • Conduct planning and assessments to ensure critical spares and parts are managed in accordance with utilization needs.
  • Generate maintenance plans and schedules aimed at optimizing availability of critical assets.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and report on recommendations for resolution.
  • Collect and validate mean time between failure (MTBF) data from original equipment manufacturers and produce the same for Photonic systems.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the operation or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education (Bachelors, Masters, or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with complex, high-reliability systems maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of product and process optimization for complex systems.
  • Outstanding teamwork skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cryogenic system design, operation, or maintenance.
  • Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks and Flotherm.
  • Experience with coding languages (e.g., MATLAB or Python).
  • Experience with vacuum or cryogenic measurement systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex experimental systems.
