Tax Director

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Canadian Tax to join our team at Manulife. As a key member of our Canadian Tax team, you will be responsible for providing tax advisory services to our business units and ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise business units on tax compliance requirements and provide guidance on tax-related matters.
- Prepare written technical tax analysis and reports on product and customer tax issues.
- Monitor and interpret tax legislation and government administrative positions, and communicate changes to stakeholders.
- Build relationships with business units and functions to gain awareness of emerging tax issues and manage tax and reputational risks.
- Represent Manulife on industry tax committees and working groups.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation of tax filings and remittances.
Requirements:
- Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
- 7+ years of Canadian tax experience (preferably Personal and Trust tax).
- CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
