Under the remote guidance of the Manager, and in collaboration with the team, the Radiopharmaceutical Specialist is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to conduct over 70 nuclear medicine diagnostic procedures and therapies in a manner that is effective, efficient, professional, and ethical.
This role encompasses ongoing quality assurance of radiopharmaceuticals, imaging equipment, and the maintenance of documentation required by hospital accreditation, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Health Canada.
The Radiopharmaceutical Specialist is expected to adapt procedures and execute complex computer manipulations and analyses while delivering a high standard of healthcare to clients.
On a rotating basis, the individual is required to independently perform on-call/emergency procedures outside of regular department hours for presentation to the nuclear medicine physician.
Qualifications include:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Licensure from the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP)
- Commitment to practicing all aspects of Nuclear Medicine and demonstrating initiative in maintaining and expanding related skills.
- Competencies in additional languages are an asset, with French preferred.
