ISS is on the lookout for a Senior Compensation Analyst to enhance our Canadian Research Team. This role is pivotal in managing all aspects of compensation, benefits, and equity plan proposal policy development, interpretation, and application for proxy analyses within the Canadian market. With the growing emphasis on shareholder advisory votes regarding executive remuneration in Canada, there is an increasing focus on the various components of executive compensation arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for the Canadian Research team in all facets of compensation and benefits, particularly focusing on the correlation between executive remuneration and company performance.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of high-profile and contentious proxy statements that involve executive compensation matters.
  • Prepare comprehensive written analyses that outline ISS vote recommendations and justifications for general corporate governance topics as well as compensation-related issues. Assist research staff in their evaluations and review their work utilizing ISS' proprietary compensation models and other quantitative methodologies, alongside qualitative analytical content.
  • Lead or contribute to the formulation of policies concerning executive compensation.
  • Address inquiries from clients and companies, providing clear explanations of ISS' compensation policies and methodologies as required.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure that the Canadian Research department has the necessary tools to execute all quantitative methodologies, ensuring that procedures are accurate, comprehensive, and current.
  • Provide training to research staff on executive compensation policies and methodologies as needed.
  • Support the growth and efficiency of compensation-related data collection.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in business or economics, or equivalent experience; a professional designation in compensation such as CCP or CEP is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in executive compensation and benefits within a major corporation or consultancy.
  • Proficiency in understanding and utilizing compensation modeling programs.
  • A solid grasp of financial and operational performance metrics.
  • General knowledge of corporate governance standards and market expectations.
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player committed to personal and team development.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a challenging, deadline-driven environment.
