POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the diligent care and operation of assigned machinery.
  • Must verify that the machinery is in safe working order prior to operation and ensure that adequate safety measures are in place.
  • Accountable for the appropriate storage and maintenance of equipment during non-operational hours.
  • Must confirm that all special tools, spare parts, and attachments are functional and remain with the machinery.
  • Ensure that only authorized personnel are present on the equipment and that they are properly positioned before any movement.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the machinery and appropriately managing switches when not under direct supervision.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

To be qualified and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of a machine operator, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Comfortable working at heights with the necessary fall protection equipment.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of standard hand and power tools.
  • Obtain and maintain a CROR rules card, minimum level D.
  • Hold a valid Class 3 driver's license.
  • Be qualified in the relevant machine operator's category and have successfully completed all necessary training courses, including Air ticket, Rigging, WHMIS, Defensive driving, Hi-Rail, First aid, and Hand signals.
