Equipment Operator

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the diligent care and operation of assigned machinery.
  • Must verify that the track machine, roadway machine, or equipment is in safe working order prior to operation and ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place.
  • Accountable for the proper maintenance and storage of machinery during non-operational hours.
  • Ensure that specialized tools, spare parts, and attachments are in good working condition and remain with the equipment.
  • Ensure that only authorized personnel are transported on equipment and confirm their proper positioning before any movement.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the machinery and correctly managing the switches when not under direct supervision.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

To be deemed competent and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of a machine operator, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Comfortable working at heights with appropriate fall protection equipment.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of standard hand and power tools.
  • Obtain and maintain a CROR rules card, minimum level D.
  • Possess a valid Class 3 driver's license.
  • Qualified in the relevant machine operator's category (1, 2, 3, etc.) and have successfully completed all necessary training courses including Air ticket, Rigging, WHMIS, Defensive driving, Hi-Rail, First aid, and Hand signals.
