Position Overview

The British Columbia Institute of Technology's Mechanical Engineering department is in search of a dedicated and full-time Assistant Instructor who possesses a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and will play a vital role in providing laboratory and tutorial support across various mechanical engineering subjects.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Instructor will facilitate labs and tutorials in several key areas, including:

  • Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering (statics, dynamics, strength of materials)
  • Engineering Graphics (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
  • HVAC and Plumbing Design
  • Manufacturing Processes, including Welding

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Have relevant industry experience in an engineering setting.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in engineering software applications, particularly strong CAD skills.
  • Exhibit strong digital literacy.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Show effective presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Prior instructional experience is advantageous.
