Position Overview
The British Columbia Institute of Technology's Mechanical Engineering department is in search of a dedicated and full-time Assistant Instructor who possesses a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and will play a vital role in providing laboratory and tutorial support across various mechanical engineering subjects.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Instructor will facilitate labs and tutorials in several key areas, including:
- Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering (statics, dynamics, strength of materials)
- Engineering Graphics (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
- HVAC and Plumbing Design
- Manufacturing Processes, including Welding
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Have relevant industry experience in an engineering setting.
- Demonstrate proficiency in engineering software applications, particularly strong CAD skills.
- Exhibit strong digital literacy.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Show effective presentation abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Prior instructional experience is advantageous.
