Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a skilled Maintenance Helper to join our team in the Facility Operations department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the upkeep of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform minor maintenance and carpentry tasks, painting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and basic repair duties for facilities equipment.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and customer service in all City facilities.
  • Work rotational shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, as required.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • Up to one month of related experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates are assets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of general facility cleanliness and safe work practices.
  • Effective cleaning techniques and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
  • WHMIS certification and knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff.
